Kasargod: A lorry owner has been arrested by the Kumble police in connection with assault on Sub-Inspector and other cops over sand mafia.

Mohammed Kunhi(28) from K K Pura in Mogral is the arrested. The incident occured on November 8, 2015.

Based on a credible information, SI Anup Kumar and staff Madhu had reached Mogral where illegal sand mining was carried out. The lorry driver ran over SI’s bike but the cops escaped unhurt as they managed to jump out of the bike.

Even though the cops asked the lorry driver to stop, he tried to speed away and eventually ran over the cop’s bike.

Another case has been registered at Kumble police station against Mohammed Kunhi.
