Bantwal : The traders at B.C. Road as well as the general public submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar on Wednesday June 18 demanding a solution to the problem of water logging in the area due to disorderly side drains. They have also threatened to resort to a severe agitation by blocking the highway if the officials do not concede to the demand.

B.C. Road has been experiencing artificial floods whenever it rains heavily mainly because of silt accumulated in the drain in front of the Ganesh Medical. Following repeated appeals by locals, the TMC Chief Officer Mattadi, Health Officer Rajashekhar, engineers Dominic D’Mello and Prabha had visited the place last Friday and tried to find some solution. However, the works were left half way through when they realised that the drainage pipe was blocked right on the middle of the highway. They had said the work has to be taken by the NH authority itself.
The half completed works have now further added to the woes with the soil and slush still remaining on the roadside.
Now that the local traders have warned of protest, Tahsildar BS Malleswami and TMC officials have intimated the highway officials who visited the spot on Wednesday along with TMC officials and have assured an early solution to the problem. Uday Kumar, NH Department Engineer was present among others.
