Army Recruitment rally: 1450 candidates qualify in first round

Moodbidri :  A total of 1450 candidates  were  qualified in  the first round  at the Army Recruitment Rally which commenced at Vidyagiri here on  Tuesday August 5 under the joint aegis of the Army Recruitment Zone Mangalore and Alva’s Education Foundation.

The Rally commenced after Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr  M Mohan Alva showed the  yellow flag on Tuesday August 5. Vivek Alva, Trustee and Army Recruitment Zone officials were present.

If registration and height tests were done on Monday, on Tuesday  tests were held for the post of store keeper and sepoy clerks. Around 2500 candidates from 30 districts took part.

On Wednesday there will be eligibility tests for tradesmen posts. The selection process will be held separately for those with educational qualification of eighth and tenth pass.

There was a running race on Tuesday for those candidates who qualified in the height test on Monday.  The candidates had to cover a  distance of 1.06 kms  within five to six minutes.  Physical eligibility tests were conducted in three categories. The candidates had to jump over a 9 feet long trench, had to walk reverse and  had to jump upto chest height at least 6 to 10 times after holding a cross plank  fitted to a ten feet tall pole planted in a square shape.

Those qualified  were once again subject to a height test, weight and chest measurement. All their certificates were scrutinised.

The candidates will undergo a medical test and those who are selected will have to appear for a written test on August 30.  Hall tickets will be issued to them.

Tahsildar Manikya Raj is the nodal officer for the rally, while Nagaraj, Assistant Commissioner of the Religious and Endowment Department is entrusted to oversee food arrangements.
