Moodbidri: All eyes are set on Vidyagiri in Moodbidri which will be hosting the mega Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat from December 19 to 22.Arrangements are in full swing for a mega book expo, flower and fruit show and a food fest that will complement the much awaited event. These exhibitions will contribute in their own way to make this conference a mega success.
Invitation to Conference President: The Nudisiri Reception Committee has officially extended an invitation to Dr BA Viveka Rai who will be chairing the Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat 2013. The Committee led by its President K Amarnath Shetty and Alva’s Education Foundation Trustee Vivek Alva visited the residence of Rai in Mangalore and invited him for the Conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai hoped the Conference would play a pivotal role in promoting the language and culture of the land.
The delegation included Andaru Gunapal Hegde, SNR Ballal, Co-Administrator of Alva’s Prof. AV Navada, Dr Vamana Nandavara, Dr Satyanarayana Mallipatna, Dr Narasimhamurthi, Secretaries, Venugopal Shetty, Dr Dhananjaya Kumble, Dr Yogish Kairodi, TAN Khandige, Ramprasad, K Shivaprasad, Nagesh Kallur and others.
Book Expo: The Mega Exhibition cum sale of books as part of Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat will have a total of around 700 stalls. Books on Kannada language and culture, collection of books of the Hampi and Mysore Universities and Karnataka Folk Authority will be for sale here. Various book stores are also expected to take part.
Show of unique literary works : As part of the book exhibition there will be a show of rare and unique literary works including works which have been translated from Kannada to other languages and vice versa. Literary works of Jnanpeeth Award winning and Kendra Sahitya Academy Award winning writers will also be on display.
Specialty: Another specialty will be the exhibition of literary works of the presidents of all the nine Nudisiri events held so far. There will also be on display palm scripts and manuscripts, Kannada journals, Children’s literary works, folk and research works and over 1000 old Kannada newspapers from the collection of Mohan Ganapathi Hegde of the Journalism Department of Alv’as College.
Exhibition: A total of 150 out of the 3000 photographs received as entry for the National level Photography contest, the selected works of art that emerged at Varnasiri, costumes depicting Yakshagana tradition, Tulunad handicraft items, Tulunad folk attires, demonstrations as well as the rare items from Alva’s Museum will be part of the exhibition to be organised as part of the literary and cultural fest.
Flower Fruits Show : There will be a special flower and fruits exhibition this time wherein vegetables, flowers and fruits from Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Manipura will be exhibited. Hybrid varieties of coconut, a bunch of 1000 coconuts and a two kg coconut, the world’s biggest coconut will be on display. A 25 foot tall plantain tree from Manipur will be the special attraction.
Eight special flower varieties will also be part of the flower show which will display a wonderful world of flowers.
Food festival : There will be around 200 stalls offering a wide variety of eatables as part of the Food Festival. Food lovers will be treated to a delectable array of cuisines from all parts of the state. Mainly, Tulunadu Food Caterers will offer traditional food of undivided DK leaving the taste buds Nudisiri Virasat visitors tingling.
Farm Fest and Expo: The 34th Krishi Mela will be held under the guidance of Dr D Veerendra Heggade. There will be stalls which highlight modern agricultural technology, demonstration of modern as well as traditional agricultural implements and farm techniques. Various farm implements will also be exhibited.
