Moodabidri: The Students of Alva’s Engineering College here, have successfully built a hybrid car which runs on petrol and an electrical motor at the relatively low cost of Rs: 45 000.

The car is unique in that at the speed of 40 Kms per hour, it automatically switches to electrical energy from its motor and consequently provides about 45 kms per litre of petrol in terms of mileage.
The car was built as a project by the final year mechanical engineering students, Prithvi Harish Salian, Manish Patel, Rahul Shetty and Deep Karkera.
The College Managing Committee Trustee, Vivek Alva, Dean Dr. Peter Fernandes, Mechanical Engineering Head of Department, K. V. Suresh commended the achievement of the students.
