Moodbidri: A four day painting camp, ‘Alvas Chitrasiri-2014’ was inaugurated here at Dr V S Acharya auditorium on the occasion of Alvas Nudisiri-2014 by the Alvas institution.

Moodbidri Jain mutt seer Swasthishree Charukeerthi Pandithacharyavarya kickstarted the programme. Addressing the gathering he said that artists should not paint our nation using only red color. We must instead also use green and white, symbolizing peace in paintings and promote our unique culture and tradition.

Dr M Mohan Alva presiding over the function said that Alvas Nudisiri should not be limited to a cultural fest, instead it should promote Kannada language. Literature alone cannot promote language. So from last 7 years we are attempting to promote the richness of Kannada through paintings and it has been successful. In coming days we have planned to organise huge painting exhibition to attract people towards it. “I have discussed with senior artists to organise 10 day Adivasi camp too.”, he said.

36 artists who are participating in the camp were provided paintings tools. Ganesh Somayaji welcomed the gathering and Guruprasad Shetty compered and rendered vote of thanks.
