Mangalore :Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has requested villagers who have been demanding crematoriums in their villages to submit memoranda in this regard to the respective Tahsildars so as to enable them to prepare a report on the same.

Presiding over a meeting of revenue officials of the district held at his office on Monday June 16, the Deputy Commissioner made it a point that all villages should be equipped with crematorium. No one has the right to donate any dead body to medical colleges unless the person while alive had donated his body, he said.
The DC further said of the 338 villages in the district, 84 need crematoriums and directed the Tahsildars to submit a report to the district administration by July 15 with regard to provision of separate crematorium for different communities. The DC further asked Tahsildars to purchase private lands from their owners in case government land is not available for crematorium.
