Mangalore: To crack the whip on fake doctors, over 48,000 AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) doctors will get a uniform bio-metric identity cards, said Sathyamurthy, president of Karnataka Ayurvedic & Unani Practitioners Board (KAUP), Bangalore.
Addressing press-persons on Sunday, he said the bar code on the bio-metric identity card gives all the details of the doctor, with ten security features. It is issued only by KAUP, Bangalore. The data will be computerized and stored on the server. Besides, it gives an opportunity for the patient to find out the credibility of the practitioner, by clicking on the bar code, which is on the biometric card, from any android phone with access to net, he said.

Terming the project as first of its kind in the state, he said biometric registration had started last year. However, we received many fake applications. Therefore, we have revised the process of applying to stop such registrations. We revised the process of registration from June. Since then, over 4,000 Ayush doctors have received biometric cards, he added.
Ayush doctor’s convention on Nov 22, 23
Dr. Sathyamurthy also said department of Ayush, Government of Karnataka in association with several organizations will host state level Ayush doctor’s convention in Nehru stadium, Mangalore on November 22 and 23.
We are expecting more than 10,000 delegates (Ayush doctors), he said and added there will be ‘Arogya Expo’, featuring 200 stalls, medical camps and Ayush specialists available for free constancy.
