Mangalore : The Air Cargo Complex located at the old terminal of the Mangalore International Airport handled the first consignment of air cargo on May 23, Thursday. The consignment of machinery spare parts weighing around 500 kg was shipped from Mangalore to Dubai by an Air India Express flight .This was informed by JT Radhakrishna, Director of Mangalore International Airport
Melwyn DSilva, Station Manager of Air India Express, Mangalore said the present exporter has promised two to three consignments during a month. He also informed that the airport was receiving enquiries regarding exporting of vegetables and other perishable products to the Gulf region.
It may be recalled here that the air Cargo Complex at the airport was inaugurated on March 18 this year by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajith Singh.
