Puttur: The annual fair of Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple started off with great fervour on Sunday, April 10 with hoisting of the temple flag.

Local MLA Shakunthala Shetty, Temple Management committee members, among others were present.

The temple had recently been in news after Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim’s name was included in the temple annual fair invitation, to which a certain section took exception on the grounds that the name of a non-Hindu administrator or officer should not be included in the temple invitation card.

The High Court too recently upheld the argument by ordering the temple to re-print the invitations after excluding the name of the incumbent DC.
