Mangalore: Mr. Jeeth Milan Roche, an activist from the BIG FM, created awareness among the NSS volunteers of St. Aloysius College by planting a sappling as a part of his Afforestation campaign in the city.
It was all set for Mr. Jeeth as the NSS unit of St.Aloysius College had organised vanamahotsava programme in the college, in association with the forest department.
The programme began with the invocation of blessings by NSS volunteers. Mr. Jeeth inagurated the function by symbolically planting a sappling. Later in his inagural address he explained how each and every student can make a difference by planting a sappling and nurturing it.
Mr.Jeeth later recited the oath to the students.
The programme was presided over by Fr. Walter, Chief accounts officer and guest of honour was Prof. Sureshnath, HOD Dept. of Botany. NSS officer Mr. Sharath Prabhu was also present at the occassion.
The programme came to an end after all the digniories planted sapplings in the college premises.
It is a notable fact that Mr.Jeeth has planted 13,000 sapplings till date and he has been planting 5000 sapplings every year since he started his campaign.
Curtains on “BIG Green Month” through “Green Campus Drive” at St Aloysius College
NSS Volunteers to plant trees in the campus
Mangalore : NSS Volunteers of St Aloysius College in association with 92.7 BIG FM Mangalore will be organizing “Green Campus Drive”. This will be inaugurated by Mr. Jeeth Milan Roche, who is on a planting spree from Kulur to Mangaladevi temple. The programme will be held on June 28, 2013 at 3:30 pm in Aruppe Block Auditorium, St Aloysius Collge, Mangalore. This will be followed by about 300 NSS students planting the plants in the campus and creating consciousness. The Department of Forest has provided with the plants for the planting drive.
Prof. Sureshnath, Department of Botany will be the keynote speaker.
This is also the culmination of the BIG Green Month of 92.7 BIGFM through Green campus drive.
