ABVP holds protest over Facebook incident

Udupi: The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat organized a protest which was joined by college students from around the district on January 13, Monday opposing the recent case wherein  obscene pictures of a girl were uploaded on Facebook by a youth.

Shashiraj H P,Convener of ABVP expressed concern over the rising cases of crime against women. He also  referred to  the cases of  kidnap and missing of young women and suspected Love Jehad behind it. He further delved on the drugs mafia rampant around school and college campuses.

Citing the latest case reported from Udupi, he demanded stringent punishment to the accused youth and urged the police to conduct an impartial and fair investigation. He also warned of severe protest by ABVP otherwise.

The protestors who insisted that the SP Dr Boralingaiah should speak to them, blocked the road for  nearly two hours.

Finally, the SP arrived at 12 noon and assured the protestors that appropriate action will take in the case as per law. He asked them to give police one month’s time, to which the students agreed.
