A campaign for the differently-abled by a differently-abled man

Mangalore : In a novel gesture, Suresh Nayak, a differently abled man from Puttur who is a multi-faceted talent, has initiated a public awareness campaign for  the cause of many more people like him. The campaign aims at ensuring equality for the  differently abled people.

Informing this to reporters here on October 8, Monday, Nayak informed that his campaign was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his visit to the city on September 29. He said  he has been organizing such a campaign since 20 years through programmes like yakshagana, plays, Bhajans, tiger dance, etc and added so far he has organised nearly 1000 programmes.

He said this year he will sensitize the society on the issue through Jadoo or magic. As part of the programme magic shows will be organized in schools and colleges in the district.

Umesh Nayak, brother of Suresh Nayak informed that similar programmes can be held in other parts of the state if sponsors come forward.

Suresh Nayak’s name is already in the 2013 Limca Book of Records for recalling 518 telephone numbers in 72 minutes,  India Book of Records for recalling 204 phone numbers in 30 minutes. Nayak’s name is also in the Asia Book of Records for the longest tongue.
