Mangalore : State Health Minister UT Khader has informed that seven new health centres would be set up in the city under the National Urban Health Mission.


Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office in the city on April 29, Tuesday he said each of the health centre would come up at an estimated cost of Rs 45 lakhs. He said three of the existing health centres would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 10 lakhs.
He said full-fledged health centres will come up at Kulai, Kunjathbail, Shaktinagar, Bunder, Padil, Jeppinamogaru, Jeppu Bolar and Kadri. The centres will have doctors from 9 am to 8 pm, he said adding a sum of Rs 2.1 crore would be earmarked for Mangalore city and Rs 1.25 crores for Ullal in this regard.
He said apart from the above, five health booths and 4 health booths will come up in Mangalore city and Ullal respectively. The Minister further informed that Asha workers will be posted even in city areas in the days to come and steps would be taken to increase their allowance to Rs 2000.
Referring to the Brahmarakootlu Toll Gate incident, the minister assured stern legal action against those found guilty. The matter has to be resolved by setting aside politics, he said.
