Mangalore:Four persons have been arrested in connection with the case of damaging the banner of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi at Muloor cross near Mudipu Junction recently. The miscreants had set the banner afire and had damaged it partially on September 18.
Those arrested are Mohammad Azwin, Nawaz, Ziyad and Rahim. All of them are said to be residents of Mudipu.
It is learnt, all the four caused damage to the banner depicting the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, after they had an altercation with a tempo driver named Abdul Rahiman near Mulur Cross. The assailants had also attacked the driver and damaged his tempo. Even a bus was targeted by them.
The accused had escaped to Kerala after the incident and were arrested near Nandarapaddu following a tip off.
However, it is yet to be ascertained if these four were also responsible for torching another banner depicting Modi and Swami Vivekananda at Gurupur on September 20.
