Bantwal : Three shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in a building in front of the new bus stand at Kabaka  during the wee hours  of January 22, Wednesday. The building is owned  by Ibrahim Kodippady.

The fire was first noticed at  around 4 am by the nearby chicken stall people. They immediately informed the shop owner. The fire brigade vehicles which rushed to the spot helped in extinguishing the fire.

The Subrahmanya garage owned by Kolpe Sheenappa, Preethi Laundry of Varun Madivala and RK Automobiles of Puttanna were destroyed in the fire. The loss has been estimated at Rs  5 lakhs.  The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
