13,51,245 voters in Udupi- Chikmagalur constituency : DC

Udupi : Udupi Deputy Commissioner Muddu Mohan convened a press meet on March 7, Friday to give details regarding various aspects in the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media persons Muddu Mohan said, “There are around 13, 51,245 voters in Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency for the forth coming Lok Sabha polls to be held on April 16 in Karnataka.”

He stated that the notification of election will be issued on March 19; the nominations will be accepted from March 19 to March 26. The nominations will be verified on March 27 whereas applicant’s withdrawal will be on March 29.

DC also informed that there are at least 6, 95,969 voters in Udupi district and 655276 voters in Chikmagalur district, which means around 23, 446 additional voters than last elections.

About 6, 465 applications are in the process of verification, however March 16 will be the last date of enrollment in the voters list. The list of the voters will be displayed on March 9 in each polling station. There are 1751 polling stations in the constituency, out of which 819 are in Udupi and 932 are in Chikmagalur, he added

It is learnt that a candidate can invest up to Rs 70 lakh as poll expenditure, SVEEP programme would be held to encourage people to vote and create awareness.

Security:  With regards to security DC Muddu Mohan stated that five teams including flying squad, static surveillance, video viewing, sector officer and video surveillance will to be kept on vigil to have a watch on political activities, media activities and monitoring committee is formed.

Around 1549 ballet units and 1210 control units in Udupi district and 1340 control units and 1710 ballet units in Chikmagalur district are placed. There are total of 3250 ballet units and 2550 control units in Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, he said.
