11,284 Pan Masala packets seized; 2 nabbed

Manjeshwar: Excise squad officials have seized  as many as 11,284 packets of Pan Masala  which were being unauthorisedly transported in  a Mangalore-Kasargod KSRTC bus on March 25, Tuesday morning.

Two persons namely BM Ahmed (40) of Cherkala and Abdul Rahiman (38)  have been arrested.The seized products included 10,350 packets of Maruthi Gutka, 364 packets of tobacco, 365 packets of Chinese Tobacco and 600 packets of Madhu.

The illegal transportation came to light when officials were thoroughly checking vehicles to prevent any illegal cash transportation for use during election times.

The pan masala packets were found in plastic bags. The operation was led by Excise Squad Circle Inspector S Sunil Kumar.

The seized products have been handed over to Manjeshwar police.
