Mangaluru: Chali Polilu completed 500 days at PVR Cinemas on Sunday setting a new record in regional film industry. The movie released on October 31, 2014 under the banner of Jaya Kirana Films.
Prakash Pandeshwar, the producer of the Chali Polilu, addressing media said that, the exhibitor was running the movie as he was getting good profit.
“33,000 people have watched the movie at PVR Cinemas, Mangaluru, and the movie is being screened the second time in some of the theatres,” he said.
Deepak Gangadhar, PVR Cinemas, informed that the movie was first screened in a 262-seat screen and then to a smaller 139-seat screen. Presently it’s being screened in the 79-seater screen.
“More than 54 percent occupancy is the daily average,” he added.
According to actor Devdas Kapikad, people want entertainment in Tulu movies and Chali Polilu has been able to deliver that. The movie stars Navin D Padil, Bhojraj Vamanjoor and Arvind Bolar.
‘Dabak Daba Aisa’ is producer Prakash Pandeshwar’s next offing.
Tulu film industry is witnessing a boom from 2011 after the release of Oriyardori Asal, which also became a big hit. Several Tulu movies have been released since then and met success.
