
Karwar: Following continuous heavy rains here on Monday, July 22, the city is devastated.
As the situation remains unchanged, the weather department has predicted more rains and issued a ‘Red Alert’.
In its report, it has mentioned that the wind speeds from the western region was likely to gain momentum from 40 to 50 kmph, simultaneously warning the fishermen and fisherwomen not to carry out any fishing activities.
The rains which began from morning has affected the lives of many as huge amount of water has accumulated in several low lying areas and damaged old roads.
Areas like Habbuwada and Baithkol have been severely affected with electric poles uprooted and water from the drainage on the Habbuwada state highway flowing out continuously.
Keeping in mind the situation, Deputy Commissioner Harish Kumar has directed the education officers and Tahsildars to take joint decisions about declaring holiday on Tuesday, July 22 to schools and colleges of the district.
