Karwar: Rear Admiral KM Ramakrishnan has been appointed as the new Commanding Flag Officer of the Karnataka Naval Region. The Commanding Flag Officer of Karnataka Naval Region is responsible for operations and administration of all the institutions/units in Karnataka including the units at the Naval Base at Arga, Karwar. Rear Admiral K M Ramakrishnan joined the service on January 01, 1991, by inducting him into the Operational Branch of the Indian Navy. Ramakrishnan is an alumnus of The National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Army War College, Mhow (Madhya Pradesh). He holds an MPhil degree in Defence Management, and Defence Studies. He holds an MSc in Defence Studies and a Master’s degree in HRM.
The Admiral, who is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal, has vast operational experience leading the missile cruiser INS Nirbhik, the offshore patrol vessel Subhadra and the frigate INS Betwa. He has also served as a navigating officer on the INS Sharda, Kutar, Rana, Krishna and Talwar. As a Flag Officer, he has served as assistant chief naval officer (communications, space, network-centric operations) before being assigned to his current post.
