Karwar: Anant Kumar Hegde filed three nomination papers with the District Election Commissioner, Dr. Harish Kumar, on Wednesday, April 3. Hegde also submitted details regarding the cases against him to the District Election Commissioner.
According to the reports submitted by Hegde, he has not been proven guilty by any of the courts. However, several cases have been registered against him in different police stations.
Cases registered against Anant Kumar Hegde
A case has been registered in Manki Police Station, Honnavar taluk, (FIR No. 59/2018) under IPC Section 153A and Representation of the People Act-1951, Section 125, for promoting enmity between different groups during election. The case is pending with Honavar Principle Civil Judge (B division) and JMFC court.
A case has been registered in Kitthur Police Station, Bylahongala taluk of Belagavi, (FIR No. 00005/2018) IPC 1860 Section 504 and 153A. The case is pending in Belagavi Kitthur Civil and JMFC court.
A case has been registered in Sirsi New Market Police Station for trying to stop medical treatment in Karnataka Medical Service Institute and criminal intimidation and disruption of duty of doctors. He is booked under Section 4 of 2009 Hate Crimes Prevention Act and IPC sections 506, 341, 34 and 323.
A case in Sirsi New Market Police station under IPC 1860 Section 295A for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc, has also been registered. It is mentioned in an affidavit submitted by Hegde that this case is pending with the Special Court for MLAs and MPs in Bengaluru.
