Bidar: Preparations are in place for the Bidar District Co-operative Central Bank (BDCC) board of directors’ elections today. The election holds significant importance for District in-charge Minister Eshwar B. Khandre and the current Chairman of the bank, Umakant Nagamarapalli.
Khandre endorsed his brother Amar Khandre for the position, while Umakant received support from Union Minister Bhagwant Khuba. Consequently, the election has intensified with heightened competition.
Elections are scheduled for 15 directorial positions, with three of them already filled unopposed. The remaining 12 seats are contested. Voting will occur from 9 am to 4 pm on Wednesday (October 4) at the BDCC office in the city, and vote counting will commence at 4.30 pm. As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders have been enacted within a 200-meter radius of the office. Additionally, traffic restrictions have been implemented, with no passage from Basaveshwara Circle to Bhagat Singh Circle, as per the statement released by returning officer Lavish Ordia on Tuesday.
Voters are not allowed to bring water bottles, pens, pencils, mobile phones, smartwatches, spy cameras, or any other electronic devices into the polling station. Violations of this rule will result in legal action. To cast their votes, it is compulsory for voters to present a ‘delegate’ form along with a valid photo identification card.
Police security will be deployed around the polling station to ensure a safe and secure voting environment. Measures have been put in place to facilitate free and fair voting. The head office of the DCC bank will remain closed on Wednesday, declared as a holiday, and no banking transactions will be conducted. Additionally, public movement in the vicinity is restricted, as stated by the authorities.
The High Court Kalaburagi Bench has provided an opportunity for eight voters to cast their votes. They can come and exercise their rights. They can cast their votes by presenting any identification with a photo along with a recognized mark sheet. The surrounding shops and stalls near the DCC bank will be closed for security reasons.
