Bangalore: Anusha Phukan, 25, a management consultant based in the city, was mugged by two bike borne miscreant at around 3 PM near the Koramangala Club on Wednesday. She was on 17E Main Road when she was mugged.
“Since there was a lot of dung on the footpath, I was walking on the road,” Phukan said. “A two-wheeler hit me from the rear. I staggered and was just regaining my composure when I felt a pair of hands pushing me to the ground. The whole incident happened in some five or six seconds and before I realised it, I had been robbed of my handbag.”
As she rose, she spotted her handbag in the hands of the man riding pillion as they fled. Once back on her feet, she immediately headed for the Koramangala police station to file a complaint. “The bag contained two debit cards, Rs 4,000 in cash, my house and office keys,” Anusha said. “The bigger loss was my PAN card and passport which were also in the bag.”
Police say another woman was mugged in identical fashion at around 10 pm on Wednesday night in front of Apollo Hospital, on Jyoti Nivas College Road. That victim too had filed a complaint.
Rohini Katoch Sepat, DCP, South-East, said, “We have rounded up some suspects and are questioning them in connection with these cases. We have formed a special team too to tackle this menace and have organised seven nakabandis in the area.”
