Bengaluru: In an attempt to ensure an eco-friendly Ganesha festival, Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) in association with Youth for Seva (YFS) and Unnathi Women Welfare Association on Wednesday organised a workshop teaching how to make an eco-friendly Ganesha Idols.
The workshop saw a participation of more than 80 women and youth from the city. The participants were seen making Ganesha idols and later taking them to their home for the festival. This initiative was spearheaded by B.CLIP Civic Leader Jyothi P Choudary from Govindarajanagara Ward in Vijayanagar.
Vaishak Simha from Youth for Seva demonstrated and guided the attendees on how to make Ganesha idols from clay. The elected corporators to BBMP, Umesh Shetty and Shilpa Sridhar took part in the workshop and appreciated the initiative and extended support to the program.
Speaking during the workshop, Jyothi, the organizer, said, “In the recent past citizens are using Plaster of Paris and colored idols. This has hampered the water bodies and is hazardous. This workshop is intended to move away from the existing setup and pledge to celebrate the festival responsibly”.
Those who attended the workshop appreciated the initiative and took a pledge to celebrate festival in a responsible manner.
