Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Congress in Karnataka is standing at the exit door and the state will soon be free from Congress culture.
“The Congress is standing at the exit door and Karnataka will soon be free from not only from Congress but also its culture,” the prime minister said addressing the Parvartane Yatre here at Bengaluru Palade grounds.
Taking a dig at Siddaramaiah government for its failure in maintaining law and order in Bengaluru, Modi said while the whole world and the central government is speaking about ‘ease of doing business’ and ‘ease of living’, the Congress-led Karnataka government here debates about ‘ease of doing murder’. “The situation is as such that even to oppose the Karnataka government is like putting one’s life into a risk,” he said.
Modi has also said if the opposition is at the cost of losing one’s life, then it is a dangerous portend for democracy. “The way the killings of BJP workers have taken place, it has hurt the society deeply and the reply to this should be given through votes,” he added.

The prime minister said there are serious allegations of corruption against Congress leaders as reports are coming about them demanding commission in several projects. “I have been told that Karnataka government is being recognised as a10 per cent government as no work is done without paying 10 per cent of the project cost as a bribe or commission,” he said.
Modi said BJP government only means development whereas Congress means corruption, casteism, appeasement and dynasticism. “The whole country is watching where the wave is flowing (towards BJP),” he said.
The central government has been making efforts to lift the country, but at the same time Karnataka government is channeling river Ganges in opposite direction even as the rule of criminals rules the roost in Karnataka than the rule of law, Modi said.
Appreciation for Rahul Dravid
He has also said the people of Karnataka are as such that they are giving a push to India’s growth and pride. “Just yesterday we saw as how our U-19 cricket team won the world cup. Along with the players, appreciation for Rahul Dravid’s hard work on the team,” he added.
Modi also said the Congress is trying to stall Triple Talaq Bill in parliament and they are trying to do the same with Other Backward Classes (OBC) Bill. “We aim to provide home to all poor and middle-class families. Our government has sanctioned 3.36 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana (urban). However, only 38,000 houses have been completed so far in Karnataka,” he rued.
Mudra Yojana
Modi said more than Rs 1 crore loans have been sanctioned for the people of Karnataka under Mudra yojana. “Under Prime MinisterJan Dhan Yojana, more than 1.16 crore accounts were opened in Karnataka, opening doors of banking for the poor and lower middle class,’’ he said.
Modi said in Karnataka, around 8.5 lakh women have been provided free LPG connection under PM Ujjwala Yojana. As many as 34 lakh toilets have been made under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Modi said during Congress regime, Karnataka got Rs 73,000 crore. “However, we have provisioned Rs. 2 lakh crore for it which is more than 180 per cent more than Congress had provided,” he said.
Rs 1 lakh crore for agriculture
Modi has also said in this central budget, government has made a significant decision so that correct price of crops is given to farmers. “If Yeddyurappa, son of a farmer, becomes Chief Minister of Karnataka, the projects for farmers will work at its best because Yeddurappa has farmer’s best interest at heart. As Yeddyurappa said, the state government will allocate Rs 1 lakh crore for the welfare of farmers if BJP comes to power in the state,” he added.
Sub-urban train
Modi said soon 160 km-long suburban railway network with 28 stations, worth Rs 17,000 crore will come up benefiting around 15 lakh commuters of the city. “The work on the sub-urban train project will commence shortly,’’ he said.
