Watching ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0’ made mandatory in state schools

Bengaluru: Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with over 2,100 students selected from across the country in New Delhi on preparations for the upcoming board examinations. This event called as Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0 will be telecast live on the Doordarshan channels operated by the Prasar Bharati. In Karnataka, all the schools have been directed to switch on the TV and ensure that all the students watch the programme.

According to a circular issued by the state director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, all the school headmasters are directed to switch on TV sets till 1 PM and listen to the event which will be LIVE on the national channels of the Prasar Bharati.

“As per the order, all the school headmasters are directed to click the pictures of students watching the event and later submit a report to the SSA office in the stipulated format,” said a headmaster.

“Most of the students don’t understand Hindi language, while the event will be held in Hindi. We don’t see much use of this programme, which has been made mandatory. However, we cannot raise objections,” he explained.

An officer from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) said watching the event is compulsory for all the schools including unaided private schools.
