Mangaluru: Three persons were arrested in connection to child trafficking at Chilimbi by Urwa police on Wednesday, August 3.

The arrested are identified as Jalil (43), his wife Mymuna and Reshma (22). While Jalil and Mymuna are from Monkey Stand near Mangaladevi, Reshma hails from Bhadravathi.

The arrests were made by Urwa police on credible information. The arrested trio on being questioned revealed that Reshma had found the child near Arasikere railway station six months back and had contacted Jalil and Mymuna for selling it. The couple had reportedly bought the child for Rs 90,000.

A case has been registered at Urwa police station. The child has been handed over to Child Welfare Committee.
