Bengaluru: Following Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje’s initial assertion linking the suspect in the March 1 blast at The Rameshwaram Cafe to Tamil Nadu, she later retracted her statement and issued an apology.
In a social media post, Karandlaje expressed regret, stating, “To my Tamil brothers and sisters, I wish to clarify that my intention was to shed light, not to cast shadows. I apologize for any pain my remarks may have caused, especially to those affected in Tamil Nadu. I retract my previous comments.”

Earlier, Karandlaje had criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, accusing him of empowering radical elements targeting Hindus and BJP workers. However, she later withdrew her statement.
Asserting that the bomber was trained in Krishnagiri forests, Karandlaje emphasized the historical ties and cultural bonds between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Responding to Karandlaje’s claims, Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned her remarks, stating that she lacked the authority to make such assertions without concrete evidence.
Stalin called for legal action against Karandlaje and urged the Election Commission to intervene, denouncing divisive rhetoric and advocating for peace and unity.
Recently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained a suspect named Shabbir from Ballary, Karnataka, in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case. The incident occurred on March 1, with CCTV footage showing a suspect placing a bag inside the cafe, and investigations indicate the use of an IED device with a timer in the explosion.
