Bangalore : PWD Minister H.C. Mahadevappa told the State Legislative Council that  there is a plan to Meet Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari shortly and submit a memorandum to him with regard to  collection of uniform toll in National Highways across the state.

Replying to a query from BJP member Capt. Ganesh Karnik, he said the state government had no authority to reduce toll rates and the decision has to be taken by the Centre.  A delegation of senior officials would soon be taken to the minister, he informed.

Stressing the need for a toll policy, he said the state government wants a uniform toll  throughout the nation. He also assured all possible measures by the government to ensure that  people are not burdened.
