Bengaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three people for transporting unaccounted cash in a potato and onion laden truck. The police have seized Rs 4,12,78,300 from the arrested persons apart from a Ashok Leyland mini goods vehicle, 10 bags of potato and 35 bags of onion and one Toyota Fortuner car.
The police have identified the arrested persons as Mohammed Afzal (23), Abdul Naseer (44) and Shamsuddin (39) from Calicut district in Kerala.
Speaking to media persons, Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood said 75 percent of the currency notes seized are of Rs 2000 denomination, 20 percent are of Rs 500 denomination and the remaining are in Rs 100 denomination. “The CCB sleuths, after they got a tip-off, conducted a raid and arrested the accused. The arrested persons were transporting unaccounted cash by keeping under the bags of potatoes and onions in a goods truck. The police have seized the vehicle, onion and potatoes bags,” the Commissioner of Police said.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the arrested persons were involved in suspicious activities at a house at Anandnagar in Kodigehalli police limits. “The arrested persons were transporting the unaccounted cash for a commission of Rs 100 for Rs 1 Lakh. We are yet to find out the source of the money and how the arrested persons got this money. The investigation is on,” said S Ravi, Additional Police Commissioner.
