Bengaluru: Normal life was disrupted across the city on Sunday following heavy rainfall and strong winds. In two separate rain-incidents, two persons, including a young boy, lost their lives.
Manoj (12), son of daily wage workers from Andhra Pradesh, died when a tree branch fell on him on MG Road. A class eighth student, Manoj had arrived from his native place to travel in the city along with his parents. He suffered head injuries in the incident and succumbed after he was rushed to the hospital.
In another incident, a person who was clearing the tree branches fell onto his house and died after coming into contact with a live wire. The incident was reported from the Ramachandrapp Layout in Coxtown. The deceased has been identified as Satish (38), a daily wage labourer living with his mother.
The BBMP announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs to the families of both the deceased.
