Online fraudster cheats PU board joint director to tune of Rs 20,000

Bengaluru: Dr. S Akash, joint director, PU examination board approached the Malleshwaram police station recently, alleging that he was duped to the tune of Rs 20,000 by an online conman.

According to the police, Akash had placed orders for a few products on a website. A person called him under the pretext of verifying his bank account details and withdrew money from his account after obtaining the same.

When Akash called the man’s number, he found that it was switched off.

The police have registered a case under the cyber crime act and an investigation is underway.
