Bangalore: A 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her tuition teacher on September 3. The HSR Layout police have arrested the suspect, Biju (30), a resident of the area on the charge of rape.

The incident came to light when the class 5 student refused to go for tuitions. On being questioned, she said that the tutor had touched her inappropriately.

The girl’s mother, in her complaint, stated that 10 boys and girls were going for tuitions at a neighbour’s place. “On September 3, the teacher, Biju, had called my daughter alone at night for a special class. I assumed it was in connection with an upcoming unit test,” she stated.

The HSR Layout police registered a case against Biju under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Rohini Katoch Sepat told The Hindu that the girl’s statement had been recorded and a medical examination was done.
