Tumkur: With no doctors and other basic facilities in a hospital, 20-year-old Rathnamma from Kodigenahalli in Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border died on Monday morning. To make things worse, the grieving father of Rathnamma had to take her dead body back home from the hospital on a moped as the hospital did not have even an ambulance.Rathnamma was brought to Kodigenahalli government hospital on Saturday at about 10 pm as she was suffering from high fever and cough. The medications from local doctors did not bring any solace to the girl and hence she was taken to Kodigenahalli hospital. But, situation only went from bad to worse as the hospital did not have doctors to attend her. Without proper care and treatment, the girl died on Monday morning.

Soon after her death, when the hospital authorities could not arrange for an ambulance to take the dead body to her house, which was about 20 kms from the hospital, her father Rajanna borrowed the TVS moped from his brother in-law and took the dead body of his daughter.

Rajanna did not have enough money to hire a vehicle and in such a situation all that he could do was to arrange a two-wheeler to make sure that his daughter, who could not get a dignified death could at east get a dignified last rites.
