Currency exchange is roaring business in Tumakuru, bank officials among several held

Tumakuru: Police arrested several people in connection with illegal currency exchange cases in Tumakuru including two private bank officials. Tumakuru and surrounding areas are witnessing surge in currency exchange, ever since demonetization came into effect.

Two private bank officials were caught while exchanging old currency with new ones. Kyatasandra police nabbed Uday working with HDFC and Padmaraj working with Cholamandalam finance vehicle recovery division for trading currency illegally.

The duo was nabbed from Ganesh temple premises in Girinagar area of the town with Rs three lakh rupees of new currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination.

At the same time, Kunigal police nabbed Ravi and Prakash with Rs 6.06 lakh cash. The accused were exchanging currency notes taking 20% commission.
