Tumakuru: A young woman, who befriended several youth on Facebook only to extort money by blackmailing them, eventually landed in police net in Koratagere police station limits.

Doddamani (25), resident of Dugganahalli under Channarayanadurga Hobli limits is the accused con woman, who ran out of luck to land behind bars.

Daughter of Hanumantharayappa, Doddamani, a contract worker attached to BESCOM used to extract mobile numbers and addresses of wealthy youth. Later, she used to invite them for online chat and collect photographs and other vital details by assuring them of romance and marriage.

She used to attach her photograph with those of gullible youth and then blackmail them to extort money by threatening them. In the last 3-4 years, she had lodged complaints against 3 youth at Tumakuru and Korategere police stations and had tasted success in her plot.

When she attempted similar strategy to con one more youth in Madhugiri police station limits, police suspected foul play. Based on the complaint from the youth in trouble, police traced her antecedents and eventually succeeded in nabbing her.

Police produced the accused woman Doddamani in court which remanded her to judicial custody.
