Tumkuru: A alcoholic son brutally murdered his father at Maruthi Nagar in Chikkanayakanahalli in Tumkur district for denying him money to buy liquor.

The deceased father has been identified as Sannaiah (62) and the accused son has been identified as a 35-year-old Venkatappa.

According to the sources, the accused Venkatappa is a truck driver and he is always engaged in quarreling with his father for various reasons. Venkatappa, a drunkard started his quarrel with his father saying he wants to marry. Later, he sought money from his father to buy alcohol. When the father refused to budge to his demand, he got enraged and assaulted him with a wooden log. The incident came to light only on Saturday.

The accused Venkatappa has been arrested.
