Bengaluru: There seems to be no end to the troubles for the state coalition government led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. After Ramesh Jarakiholi’s group raised their voice against the coalition government, now Yeswanthpur Congress MLA S T Somasekhar, known as a bitter critic of CM HDK, has called for a meeting of like-minded MLAs of the party at a city hotel on Tuesday.
The meeting’s details came to light only when MLC Raghu Achar released a media statement asking the MLAs to cancel the meet as it would send the wrong message to the people of the state.
In the press release, Achar requested Somasekhar not to hold any meeting outside the party office.
According to sources in the Congress party, MLA Somasekhar, who is also the chairman of the Bengaluru Development Authority, called this meeting to discuss various internal issues of the coalition government. “The meeting will be held in a city hotel on Tuesday evening,” said a Congress MLA who got an invitation from Somasekhar.
“Somasekhar is expecting around 20 MLAs, mostly Vokkaligas, to discuss the present political scenario. Somasekhar has an offer to quit the Congress and become a minister in the BJP government,” said sources in the Congress.
Reacting to the developments, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao stated that the Congress is a democratic party and there is no Hitler in it. “I will talk to Somasekhar,” he said.
