Bengaluru: Three persons, including a couple from the state, were killed by lightning strikes on Monday, April 29 evening.

Manjunath (48) and Bharathi (42), a farmer couple from the Tegur village in Chikkamagaluru were struck by lightning while they were in their farm harvesting vegetables. They are survived by their daughter Puja and son Deepak. The bodies were handed over to the family after a postmortem was conducted at the district hospital.

In another incident, Venkatesh (20), a student from Ballari city, also died after getting struck by lightning while on his way to grab some dinner. He was staying at a hostel in Gautham Nagar in Ballari city.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has been reported from across the state including Ballari, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Davanagere nd Uttara Kannada districts.
