Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expressed confidence that Congress-led coalition government would come to power in Maharashtra after the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to reporters at the nomination filing by Congress candidates for the Legislative elections, he said, “After the Lok Sabha elections, BJP-led NDA government may not be in power in Maharashtra. Congress will form the government there with the help of coalition partners.” He was replying reporters query on a statement by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
“Why did Modi talk about Uddhav Thackeray? He did so because he has power. After the general elections, those who left NCP and Shiva Sena will return. Hence, they are scared,” he added. Asked if there are Eknath Shinde’s in Karnataka, he said, “We don’t have any Eknath Shindes in our party, they may have.”
Legislative Elections
Expressing confidence that the Congress party would win all the six seats in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, Mr Shivakumar said, “Congress government is aware of the issues faced by teachers and graduates and we have tried to resolve their issues whenever we have come to power.”
“We have mentioned in the manifesto many of the issues including NEP. We have a guarantee scheme for the unemployed graduates. The previous government hasn’t done anything for the graduates and teachers. We are confident that graduates and teachers will support Congress this time,” he said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during an election rally in Satara remarked that the Congress government in Karnataka will collapse after Lok Sabha elections.
