
Bengaluru: For the first time in India, biggest theatre fest in the world ‘Theatre Olympics’, led by National School of Drama (NSD) will be held in the name of ‘Sneha Dhvaja’ here in Bengaluru from February 20 to March 6.
According to the sources, this will be the 8th version of the ‘Theatre Olympics’ and around 25,000 artists would participate in the fest. The capital city has got the chance of conducting the fest, as a result of continuous effort.
Including 12 plays of Kannada, hundreds of dramas of various languages of the world will be staged on the occasion. For the fest, 17 cities of the country will take care of the hospitality. There will be 450 shows in total and 600 ambiance shows and 250 youth stage shows, said Kannada and Culture Department Director N R Vishu Kumar.
“Dramas will be staged every day in Ravindra Kala Kshetra, Kalagrama Sabhangana of Mallattahalli and Bayalu Rangamandira. This is largest theatre celebration in the world. It will witness various cultural programs, seminars along with the theatre fest,” he added.
Ticket rate has been fixed as Rs.50. Every day, there will be advance booking facility in every theatre. Tickets will be available 2-hours before the show. They can be purchased directly on spot. For more details, contact: 080- 23183027.
