Bengaluru: The silicon city-Bengaluru has registered minimum temperature on Sunday, which is said to be the lowest in the last 134 years. According to the Meteorological department sources, the same condition would continue for three-four days.

Bengaluru City registered a minimum of 7.7 degree Celsius temperature from Saturday to Sunday morning and in Bengaluru, Rural mercury dipped to 8.5 degree Celsius. It is said that Bengaluru registered 7.8 degree Celsius temperature on 13th January 1884.

In the state, the minimum temperature was registered in Haveri district with 7.1 degree Celsius. Interestingly, not only the three districts but the temperature in the 17 districts of the state dipped into single digit on Sunday. People in almost all the districts suffered the chill from night to morning.

“There is no need to panic. The state has undergone similar situation even in the past. Agumbe registered 3.2 degree on January 10, 1975 and on 13th January 2015, it recorded 5.8 degree Celsius. There is no fear of death in this temperature,” said a scientist from Natural Disaster Management Centre.

“However, senior citizens with cardiac issues and those affected by paralysis or respiration problems may face difficulties. Asthma patients need to venture out of their homes when the sun shines. Wearing dry cloths, drinking warm water, dropping evening walks is better for time-being,” said the senior doctor from the centre.
