Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has ordered an inquiry into the incident at the Government High School, Hoodi, where Class X students were allegedly beaten allegedly by their English teacher for failing to score well in the preparatory exam.
Kripa Amar Alva, chairperson of the commission, summoned the teacher, Kantharaj K., the headmistress of the school Sarojamma H.S., the Block Education Officer, and the Deputy Director of Public Instruction as well the jurisdictional police inspector.
Block Education Officer South Range 4 said he had issued a notice to Sarojamma and asked her to submit a report of the incident.
The sources said Kantharaj allegedly caned six of his Class 10 students on Tuesday. The incident came to light after parents approached the school headmaster and complained to him about the caning. The sources said Kantharaj was absent from school on Wednesday.
