Bengaluru: Reacting sharply to the suspension of four of BJP councilors from the BBMP, former deputy chief minister R Ashok on Saturday, April 30 warned the ruling Congress of stalling council meeting as response to suspension.

Speaking to media, he expressed anger over the Mayor’s decision to keep four BJP councilors under suspension for two days and said that the move of the Mayor was uncalled for because the BJP members were protesting against the decision of hiking property tax, well within democratic framework.
“The ruling party is trying to snub the voice of opposition because the opposition is talking on behalf of the people.
The ongoing protest will continue till the decision is revoked by the council body,” Ashok added.
The council is unnecessarily burdening the common man by hiking the property tax instead of finding other means of income for the Palike’s exchequer, he said demanding an apology from the Mayor to suspended councilor Manjunath Reddy for using unparliamentary word against him.
