Bengaluru: The family of a 45-year-old man, who allegedly killed himself in his house at Amruthahalli on Thursday morning, is blaming the local councillor.
Relatives of the deceased, Shankarappa, claimed that he was being harassed by the councillor over an alleged house theft which took place a month ago.
Accordingly to the police, a 25-year- old maid Nalini who worked in the councilor’s house, began stealing his wife’s jewellery and pledged them with Shankarappa and his wife Saraswathi.
When the councilor learnt that Nalini was stealing from his house, he promised not to file a police complaint if she returned the gold. The maid approached Shankarappa but he allegedly refused to return the jewellery until she repaid the loan she had taken from him.
A case of unnatural death has been registered.
Rowdy hacked to death
A 32-year-old rowdy-sheeter was allegedly hacked to death by an armed gang in Jnanabharati on Thursday. Arjun Thatte, a resident of Chandra Layout, had multiple cases pending against him. The Janabharati police suspect gang rivalry behind the murder.
