Bengaluru: The city street vendors have called for a total bandh on Wednesday demanding initiation of town vending committee.

The street vendors’ association will hold a mass protest rally from Malleshwaram market to Freedom Park.
In a press note released by the association, it was stated that all metro cities in the country should have town vending committees to redress the grievances of the street vendors and authorisation of such businesses.
But, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the State government have shown no interest in creating a welfare committee even after several requests, which would help street vendors on various capacities, the press note said.
All street eateries including Panipuri, fruit and vegetables’ vendors will be off streets on Wednesday. The rally will start by 10 am on Wednesday. The vendors will return to business only on Thursday.
A memorandum will be submitted followed by the bandh, said sources.
