Bengaluru: The State BJP has said that it finds nothing wrong in fielding Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

BJP MLA CT Ravi reacting to the criticism from Kannada activists and the twitterati, said that the BJP was yet to take a decision on the candidates. He said that Karanataka would benefit by fielding Naidu as the candidate.

“Especially given his proximity and access to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka will only benefit from him. If we let go of him, then the state will stand to lose. People should stop getting emotional over this matter,” he said.

Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has been elected thrice to RS from Karnataka. The move of fielding him once again for the RS and not a Kannadiga, invited sharp criticism from public.
