Bengaluru: BMTC’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS) was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at BMTC Central Office on Wednesday, May 25. ITS, which is the first of its kind in the country has features like vehicle tracking, electronic ticketing and passenger information systems. BMTC is said to have worked hard on the system for four years.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy who was present n the occasion said that as many as 6,400 buses are installed with device which will allow tracking and monitoring of buses, collection of operational data and generation of MIS reports, two-way voice communication between the bus and the control centre and electronic ticketing machines.
“Around 10,000 ETMS are deployed across all depots and come with GPRS communication. The EMV comes with certified-supports contact-less smartcard,” he said.
