State Healthcare Extended to APL Cardholders

Bangalore: New insurance schemes will be introduced for the benefit of poor and middle-income group, said state health and family welfare minister U T Khader.

Addressing the media persons here on Thursday may 23, minister U T Khader said that in the past the health insurance schemes were limited to only BPL cardholders, which would be extended to APL card holders too, said minister Khader. Under the insurance scheme, all the diseases will be covered which was earlier limited to a few illnesses. The private hospitals will be instructed to admit the patients in ICU depending on the severity of cases. Besides, the state will bear the medical expenses of patient for a week, said minister Khader.

The vacant post of 1,300 doctors and 18,301 other posts in health department will be filled at the earliest. Arogya Vahini – health scheme will be launched in order to extend free healthcare facilities to tribal and rural people who ought to call emergency number 104 to avail the benefits, added minister Khader.
